“FaenzaScrive 2026”: The Second Edition of the Literary Festival Turns Noir

Following the success of its debut edition dedicated to the romance genre, “FaenzaScrive”, the widespread festival celebrating writing, publishing, and storytelling, returns to the heart of Romagna. From Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, the second edition of the event will transform Faenza’s historic center into a grand stage of mystery, choosing noir as its central theme and welcoming some of Italy’s most renowned literary voices.

Promoted and coordinated by Music Academy APS, the festival offers four days packed with workshops, technical masterclasses, film screenings, urban games, and musical performances. Every activity is designed to create an enjoyable, welcoming, and relaxed experience.

Main Events in the Program

    • Thursday, July 2 – “Black and Noir” (Opening Night)
An original event combining literature and wine: renowned writer Cristiano Cavina, from Casola Valsenio, and sommelier Mirko Morini will explore the evolution of noir from its origins to the present day—one through the power of words, the other through a curated selection of local wines.

    • Friday, July 3 – Classic Noir Cinema at Arena Borghesi
The open-air screen of Arena Borghesi will host a screening of the cinematic masterpiece “Double Indemnity” (1944). Directed by Billy Wilder and co-written with Raymond Chandler, based on the novel by James M. Cain, the film—nominated for 7 Academy Awards—is considered one of the cornerstones of the noir genre.

    • Masterclasses and Creative Writing Workshops
      * Publishing Masterclass: A technical session led by Francesca Montuschi (editor, literary agent, and translator), revealing the secrets of the publishing world, from editing to publication.
      * ✍️ Noir Writing Workshop with Carlo Lucarelli: One of the festival’s star guests will be thriller master Carlo Lucarelli, who will lead an exclusive intensive workshop focused on building suspense and crafting crime-fiction plots.

  • Experiences and Games in the Historic Center
    * ️ The Grand Noir Tour: A guided walk through Faenza’s alleys and squares, where historical tales blend with literary fiction.
    * ️‍♂️ Detective Story: An interactive team-based urban game structured like a treasure hunt, designed for children and families, with a final prize for those who solve the mystery through the city streets.
    * “Vincipit” Contest: The festival’s official literary competition, focused on awarding the best opening paragraph of an unpublished noir novel.
