Faenza and Castel Bolognese are the main train stations of the Romagna Faentina area.
The Faenza railway station lies on the Bologna–Ancona line and on the Florence–Faenza line (via Pontassieve), offering frequent and fast connections. From Bologna Centrale it takes 30/40 minutes, from Ravenna about 40 minutes, while from Florence SMN the direct journey along the Faentina line takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. The station is just a short walk from the city center, reachable in 5–10 minutes.
The Castel Bolognese station is the terminus of the Castel Bolognese–Ravenna line and is also located along the Bologna–Ancona line. It is the closest station for reaching Riolo Terme, which, like Casola Valsenio, does not have its own railway station. Both towns, however, are easily connected by public transport departing from nearby stations.
