“Farsi male. Variazioni sul masochismo” (Hurting Ourselves): Meet Vittorio Lingiardi at Cinema Sarti
On Saturday 7 November 2026, at 11:00 AM, the Cinema Sarti in Faenza hosts psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Vittorio Lingiardi, guest of the third meeting in the “Trilogy of Care”, the Manfrediana Library series on caring for others and, above all, for ourselves.
The focus is his book “Farsi male. Variazioni sul masochismo” (Einaudi, 2025), exploring the suffering that strikes us from behind and the kind we, more or less knowingly, hand ourselves over to, drawing a line between coexistence and complicity. It looks at personality and relationships, in the language of psychoanalysis, poetry and cinema. Lingiardi, full professor of Dynamic Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome, has published many books with Einaudi, including “Arcipelago N. Variazioni sul narcisismo” and “Corpo, umano”.
