Felice Giani in Assisi: New Discoveries at a Lecture in Palazzo Milzetti
On Thursday 29 October 2026, as part of the “Mirabili Relazioni” series, Palazzo Milzetti hosts the lecture “Felice Giani ad Assisi. Approfondimenti e nuove scoperte” (Felice Giani in Assisi: New Insights and Discoveries), curated by Marcella Vitali.
An update on research into Felice Giani’s presence in Assisi: from the earliest known documentation, such as a drawing of the square with the Temple of Minerva and a notebook featuring views of the Umbrian town, to the 2003 discovery of rooms decorated by Giani at Palazzo Sperelli Mancinforte Bernabei. The lecture also presents an important recent discovery — a decorative scheme attributed to Giani in the hall of a villa near Santa Maria degli Angeli, dated to around 1792 — which adds to the artist’s known body of work and sheds new light on his time in Rome.
