Ferragosto at Palazzo Milzetti: A Guided Tour Exploring the Origins of the Holiday
On the occasion of Ferragosto, Palazzo Milzetti – National Museum of the Neoclassical Age in Romagna in Faenza will remain open throughout the day, offering visitors the opportunity to discover one of Italy’s finest examples of Neoclassical architecture during the national holiday.
In the afternoon, the Museum’s Educational Services will lead a special themed guided tour entitled “Ferragosto at Palazzo Milzetti”. The tour will explore the historical origins of Ferragosto, tracing fascinating connections between the ancient Roman Feriae Augusti celebrations and modern-day traditions. Particular attention will also be given to the iconography and the remarkable decorative programme created by painter and decorator Felice Giani, whose masterpieces adorn the palace’s magnificent rooms.
