June in Rione Nero: food and wine, sports, and major events at the Hostaria del Pino Nero
The busiest month of the year is in full swing, and the Rione Nero reopens the doors of its headquarters in Faenza. Every evening, starting at 7:30 pm, it will be possible to dine in the neighborhood spaces with traditional dishes offered by the Hostaria del Pino Nero. The program combines a passion for historic flag-waving tournaments with themed food and wine evenings and sporting events for all ages.
1. Bigorda Week (June 8th to 14th)
The first days of opening dedicated to youth sports and the first formal dinner:
- Monday, June 8th (at 7:00 PM): Baskin Triangular Tournament.
- Tuesday, June 9th and Wednesday, June 10th (7:00 PM): The preliminary rounds of the 11th Caffè POLI Minibasket Tournament.
- Thursday, June 11th (7:00 PM): Finals and official awards ceremony of the 11th Caffè POLI Minibasket Tournament.
- Friday, June 12th (9:00 PM): The first large Propitiatory Dinner at the 27th Bigorda d’Oro Tournament, accessible by reservation only.
- Sunday, June 14th (7:00 PM): Informal culinary evening entitled “Arrosticini a tutta “beer”.
2. Flag Week (June 15th to 21st)
Seven evenings entirely focused on the flag-wavers’ great challenges and special themed menus:
- Monday, June 15th: The Historical Group in costume moves to Granarolo for the traditional dress rehearsal, previewing to the public the technical exercises they will perform during the weekend.
- Tuesday, June 16th: The synergy with the Faenza district continues with the Granarolese Dinner (7:30 pm) with an à la carte menu curated directly by the Granarolo ARCI Club. At 9:00 pm, the courtyard hosts the district stage of Faenza Rock nei Rioni with completely free admission.
- Wednesday, June 17 (8:00 PM): Mixed Paella Dinner, advance reservation required.
- Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19 (7:30 PM): Double food and wine evening dedicated to the Florentine Steak Dinner. Seating is limited until sold out, and reservations are required; the weight and cooking of the meat will be chosen on the spot.
- Saturday, June 20: Piazza del Popolo lights up with the Niballo Standard Bearers and Musicians Tournament competitions, dedicated to the Single, Small Team, Large Team, and Musicians specialties.
- Sunday, June 21: Official ceremony of the Oath of the Knights of the Palio and continuation of the Alfieri Bandieranti and Musicians with the Coppia specialties and the traditional drummer competition.
3. Palio Week (June 22nd to 27th)

The grand finale leading up to the centuries-old Niballo joust, accompanied by typical dishes from the Hostaria del Pino Nero starting at 7:30 PM:
- Monday, June 22nd (7:30 PM): Outdoor Sports Training session by FIT&JOY.
- Tuesday, June 23rd (7:30 PM): Game Night under the stars, an evening entirely dedicated to club games and entertainment.
- Wednesday, June 24th (7:30 PM) 7:30 PM): 39th Edition of the “Staffetta ad San Pir”, a historic city race organized in close collaboration with the Le Linci Running Group.
- Thursday, June 25 (7:30 PM): Music and multimedia entertainment with the VJ Lou Dance Party / Veejay set.
- Friday, June 26 (9:00 PM): A grand live music concert under the stars with the band Mystic Doll.
- Saturday, June 27 (9:00 PM): The sumptuous and institutional Propitiatory Dinner at the 69th Niballo Palio di Faenza. Access to the local table is by reservation only. Mandatory.
