Guided tours of the Grotta di Re Tiberio: a summer in the heart of gypsum
From April 1 to August 31, 2026, discover the wonders of the Grotta del Re Tiberio, a jewel of the Vena del Gesso Romagnola Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This cave represents the final section of a vast natural system, over 6 kilometers long, offering a unique insight into the karst phenomena of the northern Apennines.
Experiences in the Cave: between adventure and learning
The main tourist route extends for about 60 meters to the evocative Gothic Hall, with a 90-minute guided tour accessible to everyone. For the more adventurous, speleological tours are also available in the deeper sections, with specialized equipment provided by the organization.
Guided tour and workshop schedule
Every Saturday
- 3:00 PM: Guided cave tour.
- 4:45 PM: Educational workshop on bats (free for children).
- 5:30 PM: Guided cave tour (once a month dedicated to the theme of “bats”).
Every Sunday
- 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Guided cave tours.
- 12:00 PM: Free guided visit to the Visitor Center on Karst and Speleology.
- From 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM: Free access to the Visitor Center.
Special openings 2026
On the holidays of May 1, June 2, and August 15 (Ferragosto), guided tours will run at the following times: 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.
Useful information for visitors
Please note: Meeting time is 15 minutes before the scheduled tour. Comfortable clothing is recommended, including a light jacket and shoes with a non-slip sole. The internal temperature is constant at 12–15°C (54–59°F).
Prices and discounts
- Full ticket: €12.00 (includes helmet with light).
- Reduced ticket: €10.00 (children under 12).
- Residents: Free entry for residents of Riolo Terme and Casola Valsenio (reservation required).
