The Jesuits in Faenza: Stories, Legends and Discoveries in the Old Library of Liceo Torricelli
On Friday 23 October 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, the Auditorium at Via S. Maria dell’Angelo 1 in Faenza hosts “I Gesuiti a Faenza: storie, leggende, ritrovamenti”, with Stefano Drei, for many years a teacher at the school and now vice-president of the Alumni Association.
The history of the Jesuits in Faenza is little known even to locals: in the old red building that houses Italy’s oldest high school, the Society of Jesus educated pupils for over two centuries — among them Evangelista Torricelli — and left behind a library unmatched among Italian school institutions. For the occasion, a selection of rare books and surprising items from the library will be on display.
