Il Bunker (The Bunker): Teatro Due Mondi’s National Premiere, Drawn from an Italian Military Internee’s Diary
On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November at 9:00 PM, and Sunday 8 November at 4:00 PM, the Casa del Teatro in Faenza hosts the national premiere of “Il Bunker”, featuring Tanja Horstmann, dramaturgy by Gigi Bertoni, directed by Alberto Grilli, a Teatro Due Mondi production.
Italy, 1943. Elio Materassi, a soldier in the Italian army, refuses to join the Salò Republic and is deported to Germany as an Italian Military Internee, forced into labour on the Valentin Bunker construction site near Bremen. His diary intertwines with the personal question of the actress, whose grandparents lived close to the bunker, in a story that treats memory as a present act of responsibility and listening. A single performer moves through times, places and biographies using body, voice, song and a few essential objects.
