Il Teatro della Favola 2026: the children’s theater festival in Molinella, Faenza

“Il Teatro della Favola”, the historic summer festival dedicated to theater for children and families organized by Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri, returns to Faenza. Under the open sky of Piazza Nenni (Molinella), a series of six afternoon and evening events will take the audience on a journey to discover reimagined classics, coming-of-age stories, and animated tales.

The Performance Schedule (Summer 2026)

All performances will take place on Monday evenings at 9:15 PM according to the following official schedule:

  • Monday, June 29: Rodari in a Suitcase (Teatro dell’Orsa)
A performance combining acting and storytelling inspired by the works of Gianni Rodari. A suitcase brimming with emotions for a surprising, poetic, and engaging journey, conceived as a hymn to free thought for hearts of all sizes.
  • Monday, July 6: Pinocchio – Life and Deeds of a Puppet (Progetto G.G.)
Collodi’s masterpiece is reimagined through a blend of live theater and puppetry. On stage, Francesca Grisenti, accompanied by live music and songs performed by singer-songwriter Davide Zilli.
  • Monday, July 13: Hide and Seek (Teatro Telaio)
A live-action play starring Tina and Dino and their favorite game: hide and seek. A gentle metaphor for learning to accept oneself, overcoming shyness, and conquering the fear of revealing oneself to others.
  • Monday, July 20: Il Segreto di Barbablù (Teatro Perdavvero)
A reinterpretation of the famous fairy tale that explores, with irony and mystery, the story of Giovanna, the young countess who decides to marry the peculiar Signor Barbablù despite the unusual color of his beard.
  • Monday, July 27: Ferdinand the Bull, the Flowers, and the Hornet (TCP Tanti Cosi Progetti)
A performance combining live actors, shadow puppetry, and live music to tell the story of the pacifist bull who preferred sniffing flowers to fighting. A powerful and ironic metaphor against violence and war.
  • Monday, August 3: Beauty and the Beast (Il Baule Volante)
The festival closes with the classic tale of the merchant, his reflection in the Beast’s castle, and the great sacrifice of love made by the most beautiful of his three daughters, destined for an unexpected ending.

The performances are supported and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture (Mi.C.), the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Faenza, and the Unione della Romagna Faentina.
