Theatre and History: A Round Table on the IMI and on Theatre That Tells History
On Saturday 7 November 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, the Casa del Teatro in Faenza hosts “Il teatro e la storia”, a round table with a twofold aim: to explore the little-known history of the Italian Military Internees (IMI), soldiers deported and forced into labour for refusing to enlist in the Salò Republic, and to reflect on the role of theatre when it takes on real events. The event accompanies the debut of “Il Bunker”, Teatro Due Mondi’s first show to tell History.
Part One: History (3:00–4:50 PM)
Speakers: Angelo Emiliani, researcher of Faenza history, Orlando Materassi, president of the “Materassi-Zerbini” Study Centre, Silvia Pascale, historian and scientific director of the Centre, and Giuseppe Toschi, author of “Avrei voluto giocare al pallone” (the story of an IMI soldier).
Part Two: Theatre (5:10–7:00 PM)
Coordinated by Michele Pascarella, with Giuseppe Liotta (theatre critic and former lecturer in Performing Arts History at DAMS Bologna), Carmen Pedullà (expert in participatory theatre), Maria Dolores Pesce (theatre critic and deputy director of Dramma.it) and Cristina Valenti (president and artistic director of Scenario ETS).
