"Incantum 2026": Midsummer enchantments return to Riolo Terme with Litha
The historic center of Riolo Terme is preparing to transform into a magical and timeless realm. Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th, 2026 will see the new edition of "Incantum. Litha - Midsummer Enchantments", the large Celtic-fantasy-themed town square festival conceived and promoted by the Pro Loco di Riolo Terme (already the famous organizer of the Celtic New Year - Samhain) with the valuable support of UNPLI (National Union of Pro Loco of Italy).
The myth of Litha: when the sun marries the earth
The event was created to celebrate the Summer Solstice, recalling the ancient festive period (historically between June 21st and 25th) in which the Celtic, Gallic, and Germanic peoples celebrated fertility, the triumph of Light over Shadow, and the rebirth of the harvest. According to ancient legends, during the night of Litha, the veil between the human world and that of the spirits thinned to the point of allowing an encounter with the Little People, composed of fairies, gnomes, and woodland sprites.
The Event Program: Attractions, Markets, and the Giant Dragon
For two full days, the squares and streets adjacent to the Fortress will be filled with mystical scenery and a rich program of events:
- Historical Reenactments and Shows: The evocative historical camp will be set up by the Lupi Feudi, live demonstrations of scenic fencing, and a grand traveling parade of fantastic creatures.
- Music, Divination, and Workshops: Live music concerts inspired by Celtic sounds, stations dedicated to the ancient arts of divination, themed workshops, and a guided Litha ritual celebration to bless nature.
- Themed Crafts: A large specialized market with exhibitors and stalls selling Celtic objects, Wooden and stone artifacts, and fantasy creations.
- Challenge the Dragon Tiberius: At the town's public gardens, the bravest can meet and take photos with this year's special attraction: Tiberius, a giant dragon guarding the village of Incantum.
Ancient Flavors at the Food Stand: The Pro Loco of Riomaggiore will be curating the food court with a menu of traditional rural dishes and excellent craft beers, offering the public the chance to taste traditional beverages such as sweet Mead and spiced Hippocras wine.
