The Ancient Timber Routes: History and Nature in the Casentinesi Forests
Friday, May 8, 2026 at 8:45 PM, an exclusive evening talk will be held посвящена to the ancient timber routes. The event, organized by the Scientific Committee of the CAI of Faenza, will explore the land and river routes historically used to transport silver fir logs from the Casentinesi Forests.
A journey through history, geography, and the timber trade
The meeting is curated by Massimo Ducci and Graziano Maggi, experts who will reconstruct a centuries-old practice fundamental to the mountain economy, now almost forgotten: the exploitation and trade of high-altitude timber. This activity shaped the landscape and identity of Apennine communities for centuries, creating an inseparable bond between people and territory.
“A journey through time intertwining local history, geography, and material culture along the routes of silver fir.”
