Muky, 100 Years of Love: A Show and Talk at Casa Muky Matteucci
On Saturday 19 September 2026, MIC Faenza celebrates the centenary of the birth of Muky, artistic name of Vanda Berasi (1926-2022), with the show “Muky, 100 anni di amore” (Muky, 100 Years of Love), staged at 8:30 PM in the courtyard of Casa Muky Matteucci, in Piazza 2 Giugno, Faenza.
A painter, sculptor, ceramicist and poet, Muky devoted her life to art and to promoting the arts in Faenza, where she moved in 1955 and met Domenico Matteucci, with whom she shared an artistic and personal bond that lasted until his death in 1991. From the late 1960s, the two brought to life a cultural salon at the Loggetta del Trentanove, hosting artistic, literary and musical gatherings unlike anything else at the time.
The show weaves together poetry, theatre, literature and music: through readings of the artist’s own writings, curated by Veronica Bassani (Fatti d’Arte), music by Rodolfo Santandrea, and passages from the biographical novel “Muky. I giardini fioriti” (Curcio Editore) by Erika Dardi, the evening tells the story of Muky’s life, her great loves, her family, ceramics, and Faenza. It is followed by a conversation between Erika Dardi and Samantha Casella, film director, actress and screenwriter.
From 8:00 PM, visitors can freely explore Casa Muky Matteucci, with the unique opportunity to admire the recently completed restoration of the façade of the Loggetta del Trentanove, curated by studio Ghetti Venturini in collaboration with the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini.
The centenary celebrations, which began on 7 July in collaboration with InArch (Association of Architects) and Faenza Danza, will continue on 9 October, Muky’s birthday, with the opening of a solo exhibition dedicated to her in the Project Room of MIC Faenza, and on 10 October, at Casa Muky Matteucci, with a conversation between journalist and writer Nevio Casadio and photographer Maurizio Galimberti.
