Carlo Zauli’s Centenary: the official program of exhibitions and initiatives in Romagna
After its debut at Arte Fiera in Bologna and the success of its Milanese stop, the celebrations for the Centenary of the birth of Carlo Zauli (1926-2026) officially arrive in Romagna. The Carlo Zauli Museum in Faenza, together with a dense network of cultural partners, presents a rich program of exhibitions, performances, and retrospectives to pay homage to the great Faenza sculptor, his material dimension, and his historic international ties.
Below are all the events in the series, arranged chronologically from June to November 2026.

The Carlo Zauli Museum in Faenza kicks off the Romagna series at 6:30 PM with the inauguration of “Zauli’s Black”, an installation focusing on the artist’s famous black works. At 9:00 PM, the evening will continue under the theme of “White” with a live electroacoustic performance by contemporary avant-garde musician Enrico Malatesta. - Thursday, June 18 (6:30 PM) – Sensuality of Form Exhibition at the Fellini Museum
Opening at the Palazzo del Fulgor in Rimini of an exhibition of sculptures, lithographs, and etchings curated by Monica and Matteo Zauli. The exhibition explores the points of contact, the metamorphoses, and the dream that unite the visual universe of Carlo Zauli and that of director Federico Fellini. The exhibition will remain open to the public until August 23, 2026. - Thursday, June 25 (6:30 PM) – Exhibition The AWAI Form by Mokichi Otsuka
The Zauli Museum hosts an important international dialogue-homage in which Japanese artist Mokichi Otsuka presents sculptures suspended between figurative and abstract, testifying to Japan’s great love for Zauli’s work. The inauguration will be enriched by a musical performance by Maestro Donato D’Antonio on a contemporary Japanese piece. - Friday, June 26 (6:30 PM) – Vertical Territories Exhibition at Casa Masini
Opening in the Granaio of Casa Masini (located between Forlì and Ravenna, former home of the famous tenor Angelo Masini), the exhibition brings together the sculptures of Carlo Zauli and the installation by Mattia Vernocchi. Curated by Bernardetta Masini, Monica, and Matteo Zauli, the exhibition unites the tenor’s artistic legacy on the centenary of his death with a shared geometric-vertical tension between the two artists.
July and August 2026: Geometric Research and a Homage to the Baths
- Saturday, July 4 (9:30 PM) – Material Geometries Exhibition in Lido di Spina
The Remo Brindisi House Museum inaugurates an exhibition curated by Laura Ruffoni and Matteo Zauli, focusing on the artist’s work from the 1960s to the 1980s. The exhibition highlights the artist’s more rational and enigmatic side, in which matter merges with a rigorous geometric structure. The inauguration will feature a speech by renowned critic Claudio Spadoni. - Friday, July 10 – Group Exhibition The Art of Awards in Cervia
At the Magazzini del Sale in Cervia, an exhibition curated by Claudio Spadoni opens, offering a historical overview of the art collections created by post-World War II Italian awards (including the Faenza MIC Prize). Several historic works by Carlo Zauli will be on display. - Wednesday, July 8 (6:30 PM) – Exhibition Raffaele Quida and Carlo Zauli: Space, Force, Energy
An essential comparison hosted at the Carlo Zauli Museum focusing on space as a condition of form. The works of Apulian artist Raffaele Quida, based on the traces of gesture and energy, dialogue with Zauli’s material research. The exhibition is curated by Matteo Zauli and Barbara Vincenzi and will move to the Castromediano Museum in Lecce on September 23rd. - Wednesday, August 19th (6:30 PM) – Carlo Zauli between Sculpture, Architecture, and Design
On the exact day of the sculptor’s birthday, the Cervia Thermal Baths are hosting a cultural aperitif curated by Laura and Matteo Zauli. The event, aimed at exploring the artist’s connection to the Riviera and his historic work in the field of design, will take place within walls decorated with the famous optical tiles designed by Zauli himself.
