June at Borgo Durbecco: food and wine in the Chiostro della Commenda and major events in the Parco della Magione

The month of the Palio also comes to life beyond the Lamone River. The Borgo Durbecco reopens the doors of its charming historic site in Faenza for three weeks of traditional dishes, unique specialties, sports, and entertainment.


1. Bigorda Week (June 8th to 13th)

The first days of celebration leading up to the young knights’ tournament:

  • June 8th to 12th (7:30 PM to 11:00 PM): The kitchens open, offering traditional local dishes in the historic Chiostro della Commenda.
  • Friday June 12 (evening slot): Themed food and wine evening featuring Paella and Sangria.
  • Saturday, June 13 (12:30 PM): Unlike the other neighborhoods, Borgo Durbecco is organizing its own Propitiatory Lunch in anticipation of the 27th Bigorda d’Oro Tournament inside the Cloister.

2. Week of Flags (June 15 to 19)

A week full of flavors that sees the Cloister come alive with the cuisine of Pizza Casa del Borgo from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM, where you can enjoy special pizzas and schiacciatine (gluten-free dough also available) accompanied by a different special dish each evening:

  • Monday, June 15th: Pinsa stuffed with porchetta. Please note: From this date, reservations officially open for the Palio propitiatory dinner on June 27th.
  • Tuesday, June 16th: Burger evening with the specialties and flavors offered by Mens Sana Faenza.
  • Wednesday, June 17th: Chili Borghigiano (also available in a vegetarian version) served with refreshing glasses of Frozen Margarita.
  • Thursday, June 18th: The traditional first course of Spaghetto Lordo 2.0 arrives at the table.
  • Friday, June 19th – “Come to the Borgo”: The great barbecue evening curated by Evel Carapia. The menu includes an 800-gram grilled beef rib steak served with beans al fiasco and chips (or with rosemary). ⚠️ Please note: the evening is reservations required exclusively, to be made no later than Tuesday, June 16th at 7:30 PM.

3. Palio Week (June 22nd to 27th)

The key days leading up to the Niballo challenge see Borgo’s offerings double: the great cuisine in the Chiostro della Commenda (open from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM) and a rich program of events in the nearby Parco della Magione, enriched by the regular presence of a market District:
