Faïence in Musica 2026: Garden Concerts Return to Faenza
Faenza’s summer is filled with music with the return of “Faïence in Musica – International Music and Musicians for Argillà 2026″”. The festival, conceived and artistically directed by Donato D’Antonio, offers a series of concerts designed with a focus on majolica. The events will take place primarily every Wednesday evening in the garden of the MIC – International Museum of Ceramics, also visiting other locations in the city such as the Carlo Zauli Museum and the Church of Santa Maria dell’Angelo.
Concert Program (July – September 2026)
All evening concerts will begin at 9:00 PM:
- Wednesday, July 1st (MIC Faenza): “Suono di maiolica – Capelli international tour 2026/28″” with Maurizio Mastrini on piano, with music by Mastrini himself.
- Friday, July 3rd (Carlo Zauli Museum): “La Grande Bellezza: Homage to Italy – A Homage to Carlo Zauli, Between Art and Music””. The group Saxofollia (Fabrizio Benevelli, Lorenzo Simoni, Marco Ferri, Giovanni Contri) will perform with music by Vivaldi, Rossini, and Rota. The event is in collaboration with ERF 2026.
- Wednesday, July 8th (MIC Faenza): “Ensemble NIHZ – Viaggio nell’Anima” with Bobby Rootveld, Gergö Pazmandi, Levi Rootveld, and Orna Baina. Music by Mozart and Schubert.li>
- Wednesday, July 15 (MIC Faenza): “La Belle Epoque” with Armine Varvarian (piano) and Vadim Tchijik (violin). Music by Massenet, Dvorak, and Saint-Saëns, in collaboration with ERF 2026.
- Wednesday, July 22 (MIC Faenza): “Duo Kaban Blazej – Contrasti” with Teresa Kaban (piano) and Henryk Blazej (flute). Music by Chopin, Enescu, and Chaminade, in collaboration with the Polish Academy.
- Tuesday, July 28 (Carlo Zauli Museum): “Oriente occidente – European tour”” with Vu Duc Hien on guitar. Music by Villa Lobos, Hien, and Tarrega, in collaboration with the Italy Vietnam Foundation.
- Wednesday, July 29 (MIC Faenza): “Oltre classico”” with Francesco Mannis (flute) and Elena Aguilar Gasulla (piano). Music by Donizetti, Borne, and Rodrigo.
- Wednesday, August 5 (MIC Faenza): “Gradus Jazz Trio”” with Enrique, Pablo, and Santi Lleida (piano, electric bass, drums, and percussion). Music by Mingus, Bach, and Davis, in collaboration with In Tempo 2026.
- Saturday, September 5 (5:30 PM – Church of Santa Maria dell’Angelo): Concert by the Trio Syrinx (Michele Menardi Noguera, Luca Sciri, Vincenzo Riccio) with music by Mozart, Morricone, and Devienne.
- Sunday, September 6 (5:30 PM – Church of Santa Maria dell’Angelo): “In Chordis et organo”” with Stefano Pellini (Traeri organ) and Davide Burani (harp). Music by Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi, in collaboration with ERF 2026.
Special event of the July 3: On the occasion of the concert at the Carlo Zauli Museum, a guided tour of the Museum will be held at 7:30 PM (reservations required by calling ERF: 0542 25747).
Admission and Tickets
The event is designed to be widely accessible, however, admission methods vary depending on the evening:
- Concerts at the MIC and the Chiesa dell’Angelo: Free admission with a voluntary donation.
- July 3 Concert (Carlo Zauli Museum): Tickets are subject to a fee. Adults: €10.00; reduced price for children under 27: €5.00; reduced price for children under 10: €1.00.
