One Kilometre of Via Aemilia: An Archaeological Walk to Discover Roman Faenza
On Saturday 26 September 2026, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini is organising a free archaeological walk through the centre of Faenza to discover ancient Faventia.
The route follows exactly one kilometre of the urban section of the ancient Via Aemilia. Through 12 stops and with the help of virtual reconstructions, participants will be guided in observing the main archaeological discoveries and urban transformations from Roman times to the present day.
Guided Tour Details
- Led by: Sara Morsiani (Archaeologist) and Marco Visentin (Honorary Inspector).
- Departure times: Two tour sessions, at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM (departures take place simultaneously from both ends of the route).
- Starting points: Piazza Lanzoni and Palazzo Mazzolani.
- Practical advice: Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended.
