“Nordic Table Design”: Guided Tours with Aperitif at the Major Exhibition at the MIC in Faenza
The MIC – International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza is hosting an important exhibition that sheds new light on the history of European design: “Nordic Table Design. A Silent Feminine Revolution (1900–1970)”. Curated by Fabia Masciello, the exhibition will remain open to the public until January 10, 2027, celebrating the work of approximately forty-seven Scandinavian designers, artists, and intellectuals who redefined the very concept of table setting and domestic organization.
To further explore the themes of the exhibition in an informal and enjoyable setting, the museum is offering its summer series of “Guided Tours with Aperitif”, scheduled every Tuesday at 6:00 PM until July 28, 2026.
The Exhibition Route and Its Connection to the Premio Faenza
The exhibition features more than two hundred works, including plates, glasses, cookware, and tableware sets, summarizing seventy years of Nordic creativity. These extraordinary designers embraced the principles of the Modern Movement—where “form follows function”—combining a humanistic and functional approach with refined aesthetic research.
- The historical section and loans: The exhibition combines high-quality artistic pieces still in production today with historical items loaned from important private collections and international museums.
- The connection with MIC: A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to historical works that participated in and won the renowned International Competition of Ceramic Art “Premio Faenza” (in the industrial design section active between 1964 and 1974), featuring works by legendary designers such as Grete Ronning, Marianne Westman, Rut Bryk, and Hertha Bengtson.
