Every two years, on the first weekend of September, Argillà Italia transforms the historic center of Faenza, one of the world capitals of majolica, into a vibrant stage for artistic and artisan ceramics. Founded in 2008 as a spin-off of the French fair Argilla, the event has become one of the most important festivals in Europe dedicated to contemporary ceramics.
The festival offers visitors a pleasant walk among stands by international exhibitors – with dozens of countries represented – showcasing ceramic art, sculpture, design, home décor, and fashion accessories.
Argillà Italia is much more than a market exhibition: it is enriched by cultural events such as the Mondial Tornianti (world wheel-throwing championship), night-time ceramic firings, concerts, laboratories, workshops, exhibitions, and activities for children, creating an engaging and educational atmosphere.
Organized by the Fondazione MIC – International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, in collaboration with the Municipality of Faenza and the Italian Association of Ceramic Cities (AiCC), Argillà Italia also serves as an important networking opportunity for ceramists, artists, and industry professionals at both national and international levels.
The event represents a unique fixture in the European cultural landscape, thanks to its combination of ceramic tradition and innovation, in a city whose artistic and historical identity is deeply rooted in the production of majolica.
