Every autumn, Casola Valsenio hosts the Forgotten Fruits Festival, an event that highlights agricultural biodiversity through the rediscovery of ancient fruits such as volpine pears, pink apples, strawberry trees, azaroles, medlars and many others. Local farmers showcase km0 products harvested from old trees or newly planted varieties cultivated to recover forgotten flavours and traditional ways of consumption.
The historic centre turns into a large producers’ market, enriched by food stalls where visitors can taste autumn dishes prepared with local fruits and chestnuts, guided tastings and wines made from rare grape varieties. The streets come alive with folk performances, traditional music, street art and family-friendly activities, including the “Forgotten Games Square”, offering hands-on workshops, traditional wooden games and creative moments for children.
The festival also offers the opportunity to purchase ancient fruit trees for gardens and orchards, take part in workshops, immerse yourself in the scents of autumn and discover the stories behind each fruit. It is an experience that blends flavour, local culture, nature and conviviality, perfect for those who love authentic cuisine, rural traditions and exploring the territory.
