CAI Trail 505 – From Faenza to the Vena del Gesso and up to Colla di Casaglia
The CAI Trail 505 is a hiking route of great geological and panoramic interest that connects Faenza to the Vena del Gesso Romagnola, continuing up to the Apennine ridge at Colla di Casaglia (913 m, in the province of Florence).
This walking itinerary offers an alternative to the more well-known CAI 511, easily accessible thanks to the proximity of Faenza train station. The trail starts at Bocche dei Canali, about 2 km from Faenza, at the intersection of Via Firenze and Via Canal Grande, and winds through the unique landscape of the Vena del Gesso.
In about 5 hours of walking, hikers reach the heart of the park, but the complete route can be covered over two days, passing through areas of high natural and environmental value. The trail crosses the municipality of Brisighella and is perfect for long-distance trekking enthusiasts seeking immersive excursions among nature, geology, and breathtaking panoramas.
Ideal for multi-day hikes, CAI 505 is recommended for experienced hikers looking for an authentic experience in the heart of Emilia-Romagna and the Apennines.
