The park was created in memory of the young soldiers who fell during World War I, on the site formerly used as the town’s livestock market. It hosts many events during the warmer months, enhanced by the charming fountain known as La Palla, designed in the 1950s by G. Padovani, which has become a true symbol of the park.
The park is laid out in a radial pattern around the Fante Dormiente (Sleeping Soldier), a unique monument to the fallen created in 1926 by the Faenza sculptor Domenico Rambelli. Unlike traditional heroic depictions, the sculpture shows a resting soldier, with broad, simple forms emphasizing calm and contemplation.
Amid large trees and flowered paths, visitors can enjoy benches and a dedicated children’s play area. Ugonia Park strikes a perfect balance between historical memory and everyday enjoyment, making it ideal for moments of relaxation and leisure.
