At the Herb Garden, each season offers different experiences. Among blooming lavender, scents, colours and biodiversity, workshops, themed visits and sensory activities take place, celebrating the deep connection between people and nature.
The Garden is a botanical garden of great importance, part of the Museum Network of the Province of Ravenna. Deeply rooted in the territory of Casola Valsenio, the Town of Herbs and Forgotten Fruits, it preserves local identity through the sustainable cultivation of medicinal plants, the protection of biodiversity and the promotion of traditions linked to the use of herbs. Every activity, from educational workshops to the Emporium, promotes slow, conscious and respectful tourism. The bond with the local community is expressed through hospitality and the passing on to new generations of knowledge related to wild food and ancient crops.
Sometimes we say that at the Garden we cultivate “weeds”: spontaneous plants that are often ignored or pulled out, yet which contain ancient knowledge and surprising properties. Nettle, plantain, dandelion and mallow: humble yet precious herbs, used for centuries in cooking, medicine and cosmetics. Rediscovering them is a way of changing our perspective on nature, finding value even in what we are no longer used to recognising.
Lavender is the symbolic essence of this place, which hosts 20 different varieties, cultivated with care and attention. At the beginning of summer the plants reach peak bloom, creating a unique multisensory experience in which scents and colours blend into an unforgettable journey, marked by all the shades of lavender, from blue to violet, from pink to white.
After visiting the Emporium, visitors can find herbal teas, preserves, essential oils and cosmetics made from the Garden’s own crops, as well as seeds, books and plants to create a small botanical garden at home.
The Herb Garden looks forward to welcoming you with many activities and products to discover.
