Considered by many to be the most beautiful park in the historic centre, Parco Tassinari covers almost one hectare (9,209 sqm) and is home to more than 330 plants, around 230 of which are tall trees.
The oldest section, on the Via Castellani side and next to the palace of the same name, clearly reflects its nineteenth-century origins as a private garden, later transferred along with the green space to municipal ownership. Clear traces of this past can still be seen today: the small pond with its brick footbridge and the evocative bamboo grove.
Of great historical interest is also the icehouse, consisting of a small mound with an internal cavity, well preserved in its structure and used until the mid-twentieth century for ice storage: snow was collected, compacted and covered with foliage and insulating materials.
