The Faenza MAP is a widespread museum that takes art out of traditional exhibition spaces, turning the city into a living and dynamic container.
Founded in 2014 and part of the Ravenna Provincial Museum System, it represents a concrete example of how urban art can impact public space, revitalizing suburbs while enhancing historical sites at the same time.
The project, already introduced in the 2010 Structural Plan, includes over 80 works such as sculptures, reliefs, installations, and ceramics, arranged according to a precise urban design. The goal is to make Faenza increasingly attractive and recognizable, improving the quality of urban spaces and offering the public a free and accessible route, capable of inspiring wonder as in a historic center rich in architecture and art.
Artists who have contributed to the MAP include Rambelli, Matteucci, Biancini, Spagnulo, Nagasawa, Sottsass, Zauli, Sartelli, Stahler, and Bombardieri, reflecting a city artistic history in constant evolution.
Integral to this widespread museum are also several Faenza exhibition spaces and workshops: the International Museum of Ceramics, the Municipal Art Gallery, the Territorial Sector Museum, Bottega Gatti, the Carlo Zauli Museum, the Guerrino Tramonti Museum, and the Ivo Sassi Art Studio – House Museum.
A “museum in progress” that goes beyond the concept of a temporary exhibition, making the city itself its ideal exhibition space, open and barrier-free.
