The Folk Soul of Wine between Oriolo and Brisighella
The Ca’ Barchi winery represents the contemporary evolution of a family tradition rooted in the land of Oriolo for three generations. Founded by cousins Davide and Tania Barchi, the estate was born from the desire to honor their grandparents' legacy by transforming a passion for vineyards into an artisanal project with a strong identity. Today, the entire family actively participates in the life of the winery: while parents Lino and Mauro, along with Matteo, meticulously tend to the vineyard work, sisters Roberta and Giorgia dedicate themselves to promotion and storytelling, making every bottle a piece of a collective history that bridges the past and present.
The beating heart of production lies on the border between Faenza and Brisighella, in an area where soil morphology changes drastically within just a few rows. Agricultural management focuses on enhancing two historic vineyards located between 150 and 200 meters above sea level. The Sganapè vineyard is a green island nestled among the calanques of Valsamoggia, where Trebbiano and Albana vines over thirty years old benefit from constant breezes that grant the wines unmistakable freshness and sapidity. Nearby lies the La Pieve vineyard, four hectares marking the final edge of the Faenza territory, where the typical sands of Oriolo begin to blend with the clays of Brisighella, giving the grapes a distinct aromatic complexity.
The Ca’ Barchi philosophy defines its products as "folk" wines—honest, artisanal expressions of Romagna's rural culture. Each label is designed to tell the visceral story of its terroir, shunning industrial standardization in favor of the unique character of every single vintage. Artisanal care is reflected in every gesture, from pruning to harvesting and through to the cellar transformation, where the primary goal remains the preservation of the fruit's integrity.
The experience offered by the winery invites direct discovery of the production sites through moments of authentic sharing. In addition to a constant presence at the historic Tower of Oriolo, a local landmark for wine tourism, the family organizes guided tastings directly among the vine rows upon reservation. These occasions allow visitors to immerse themselves in the hillside landscape, sipping wines exactly where they are born while listening to the story of a family that has chosen to remain faithful to its origins.
