The railway line Castelbolognese-Ravenna was inaugurated on the 23rd of August 1863, with a connection to the port. The railway line has maintained the same route, the train stopped at the following stations: Solarolo, Lugo, Bagnacavallo, Russi and Godo.

The schedule included an up and down run in the morning and one in the afternoon, and there are connections at Castelbolognese both in the directions of Bologna and Ancona. During the First World War, the Ravenna – Castelbolognese line had a heavy flow of traffic, trains arrived from Florence to Castelbolognese and went on to Lugo, where they continued towards Lavezzola, Ferrara and then to the war front. After the war, the railway traffic along this line turned to decrease: in 1921 the Faenza – Lugo and the Russi – Granarolo lines were inaugurated. Since then the trains to and from Florence passed through Faenza.

The stations and the railway tracks suffered heavy damage during the Second World War. In the post-war years the stations and the railway lines were re-built and modernized. In 1955 the station of Barbiano was inaugurated. Finally, in 1960, the line was completely electrified.

Directions: From Faenza direction Solarolo along Via Felisio, after the railway crossing, turn left onto the first street. The station is about 100 meters on the left.
