Connecting to the European Route of Ceramics, the itinerary gains an international dimension: Faenza, a symbol of European artistic ceramics, becomes the heart of a story that weaves together art, landscape, and memory. The eco-itinerary follows circular economy principles thanks to local operators who adopt short supply chains and sustainable methods.
The eco-itinerary has a daisy-shaped structure, with a main route and three variants that will allow you to discover the entire territory using only eco-friendly means of transport.

The main route: from Faenza to Brisighella

A linear or circular route, suitable for a weekend or short cycling break, it represents the central spine of the eco-itinerary.

It passes through landmarks of artistic ceramics, such as the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza and the workshops in the historic center, and leads to hilly landscapes and the historic village of Brisighella.

The agricultural landscape, scenic paths, and encounters with local artisans and producers make this stretch a perfect summary of the territory.

Among wellness routes and thermal waters

Variant to Riolo Terme

From Villa Vezzano, continue towards Riolo Terme, a historic town with a strong focus on wellness and rejuvenation thanks to its thermal baths.

The route crosses natural areas and allows you to combine cycle tourism and relaxation in a cultural and scenic context of great value.

Variant to Casola Valsenio

A more naturalistic and contemplative route, it winds from Faenza through Via Celle, Zattaglia, and the Vena del Gesso to Casola Valsenio.

This is the itinerary of medicinal herbs, forgotten fruits, ancient essences, and slow walks, perfect for those seeking a deep connection with nature.

Among historic mills in the rural landscape

Variant to Castel Bolognese and Solarolo

It runs from Tebano towards the plain, passing the Steccaia Dam. It allows you to reach Castel Bolognese and the Scodellino Mill, symbols of the rural heritage and wheat culture. Ideal for those who want to discover agricultural Romagna and its typical products.

The route continues from Tebano towards Ca' Rossi and reaches Solarolo. It is a path that highlights agricultural biodiversity and tells the story of the daily work of rural communities that keep alive the connection between memory and the future.

This is the result of the MED Routes project, part of the European Interreg Euro MED program, which allowed us to collectively create a high-value proposal for green tourism enthusiasts.

The eco-itinerary guides you through the Around Faenza area and its cultural roots, taking you on a journey focused on sustainability and respect for the environment.

Here you can meet ceramic producers and get hands-on with clay, reach the origins of maiolica while traveling through landscapes of blue clay, savor the authentic flavors of local tradition, and move at the slow pace of the seasons, on foot or by bicycle.
