Just a few kilometers from the center of Faenza lies the Olmatello Natural Terrace, one of the locals’ favorite destinations for a walk at the foot of the Apennines.
Olmatello, accessible via the CAI 505 trail, stands out for its unique profile, marked by majestic centuries-old maritime pines towering over the terrace and framing the other cliff that opens onto the valley below, known as the Burrone di San Cristoforo.
We invite you to explore this place at your own pace, paying particular attention to the cliff. Only then can you fully appreciate the magic of the breathtaking panoramic view, letting yourself be enveloped by the beauty of the landscape stretching before your eyes.
The Olmatello Terrace indeed overlooks the majestic San Cristoforo gully, formed by water erosion that carved deep grooves into the rock, giving it striking blade-like shapes.
How to get there
Once you park near the little church of Sant’Apollinare, located at Via Castel Raniero 95, follow a roughly 1 km trail on the left that leads on foot to the Olmatello viewpoint.
