Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Solarolo, just a few miles from Faenza, Birrificio La Mata is a prime example of "farm-to-glass" beer excellence.
Founded and led by Marco Tamba, the project follows a short supply chain that begins and ends entirely on the farm: from growing the barley and part of the hops to processing and bottling.
The name "La Mata" holds multiple meanings: it combines the founder's initials, refers to the "wild card" in the traditional Sette e Mezzo game (the two of clubs featured in the logo), the Spanish word for "plant," and a tribute to the "beloved" (amata) passion for this craft.
Each beer is a natural product—unfiltered and unpasteurized—brewed using on-site solar energy and following the strict principles of integrated agriculture.
Experiences and Hospitality
A visit to La Mata invites enthusiasts to discover the charm of artisanal brewing through guided tours showcasing every production stage, from soil to glass.
The brewery offers tour packages that include technical tastings of various labels, often paired with light snacks or themed workshops exploring sophisticated pairings such as beer and cheese.
Just steps from the production area, the new shop welcomes guests into a relaxing atmosphere where they can purchase beers as well as unique beer jellies, perfect for gourmet food pairings.
It is an essential stop for those wishing to experience the authenticity of the Romagna region through a beverage that, much like wine, is deeply rooted in its land.
